Youv'e never heard that?

I came across the "accent vlog" that had been circulating and one of the questions on there is :

"What do you call it when rain falls while the sun is shining?"

No one seemed to even know what they were trying to refer to! It's the devil beating his wife.

My parents- mainly my mother has a saying for everything. That being one of them. I should devote an entire blog post defining what they all mean.

Mardi Paws

Yesterday, I had a brief moment of insanity and decided to bring Mac to the "Mardi Paws" dog parade. Horrible idea.

we were calm for about 24 seconds

then started the never ending battle of "sit"

finally got him to sit.

trying to escape.

If you think you have a well trained dog... bring them to a dog parade- that is where the true test lies. We, on the other hand will be passing on the dog parade until Mac is about 7.

In the meantime we are going to be scheduling a little surgery.... It is now safe to say that we have reached that point.

Current Wish List

my spare time has been spent on amazon a bit too much lately and these are the things that I would not mind adding to my shopping cart.

this is kind of extremely creepy but I saw a girl wearing these during Mardi Gras last weekend and I almost asked her if I could try them on. I just love them and they are one of Ray Ban's new arrivals, so hell and half of Georgia doesn't already own them.

I blame you blogger friends for this..... All of your crisp, clear pictures will give a girl camera envy.

Cable knit throw. I mean imagine wrapping yourself in a giant cable knit sweater. Pottery Barn- this was your best idea yet.

sigh. I want a house. bad. I constantly have to remind myself that all good things come to those who wait. but in the mean time. I would like to complain. I want a house.

Throw Me Something, Mister!!

We have had our fair share of festivities over the past few weeks here in South Louisiana.

This last weekend, despite the rain and colder weather that followed, we made sure to celebrate Mardi Gras the right way. Sunday we headed uptown, posted up at a pretty incredible spot and watched 4 parades pass by.

right when we got there, still in search of our post where we would spend the next 8 hours

Bacchus: A parade after my own heart. These beautiful horses were first in the show and they were even pulling the famous red cart with a Dalmatian on board. Being from St. Louis, we like to claim Clydesdales as our own since they have become a symbol of Budweiser. It's amazing how comforting a little slice of home feels.

Will Ferrell made an appearance as well. If you saw my earlier post, he was Bacchus XLIV and he was great. He even threw cowbells into the crowd. So bummed I didn't catch one.

Back of another float during Bacchus

A quick video of the action during Krewe of Thoth parade. I just love the shouts of children screaming "here, here, here"

Carnival season ended perfectly this year. The weather warmed up just enough to sit by the pool, barbeque and enjoy a delicious slice of King Cake. Today, we packaged up the best of the loot and sent a Mardi Gras package to my niece and nephew. I hope they have as much fun with it all as we did catching it!

Parting shot:

I mean... does it get any cuter than this?

Happy Ash Wednesday.

"If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love, it's actually all around"
- Love Actually

Last night I was treated to a very sweet Valentine's day. An adorable card, flowers and a homemade Filet Mignon, cooked to absolute perfection. Perfectly pink in the middle and tender as can be. I am a very lucky lady... my valentine is darn good cook. I hate to admit it but his red beans and rice give's my moms a run for her money. (sorry mom)

We got the nicest package in the mail from my future mother-in-law too! She sent me a gorgeous pink top and a navy and pink bracelet. I hate to give away surprises... but you can expect to see these two things as a part of my Easter attire :)

She also sent Mac Attack the best tug of war toy. He loves loves loves tug of war and earlier I caught him napping in his favorite spot with his new favorite toy!

Word on the street is that my other two Valentines got a drum yesterday. That outta be fun for everyone.

I spy with my little eye.....

Will Ferrell!

We went to the Hornets game last night and Will Ferrell made an appearance court side. He has recently wrapped up filming and is staying in town since he is this year's Krewe of Bacchus King. (can you imagine?)

Okay, so would it have been a lot cooler for the Lamar Odom trade to go through and to see the entire Kardashian clan? sure. But I never turn down a good celebrity sighting.

Happy Thursday, folks. I can't tell you how ready I am for Friday.

Pinterest Yay and Nays

Just like many of you all.... I am a Pinterest fanatic. I mean who doesn't love an endless supply of delicious recipes for breakfast, lunch and dinner and the desserts- lets not even start on the desserts!

And if that isn't enough it even comes with a personal trainer, stylist and interior decorator. No need to pay thousands of dollars anymore just head on over to your "thinspiration", "imaginary closet" and "house into a home" boards.... and voila!

Every week, I tend to try at least one thing and I decided to share my "yays" and "nays".

eh- nay-ish. I used the Wilton candy melts and I personally am not a huge fan as to how those taste- I would try again with a different type of chocolate.

Oh my word- Yay. healthy and delicious. Makes a huge pot that you will actually want to eat for leftovers.

I wanted these to be a yay so bad. The batter was beyond wonderful but once they were baked- they really lost their luster

Yay! I would just suggest maybe just a slight sprinkle of whole wheat bread crumbs to give you the crisp factor.

Yay! These are so good you don't even realize you are eating a taco sans tortillia.

Weekend Wrapup

Work was c r a z y last week which led to my absence on here and led to a very l a z y weekend. It was amazing to wake up on Saturday and not have a single thing planned for the entire weekend. The weather was finally nice after a week full of rain, mud and a very dirty, I used to be white, pup!

(can you imagine the number of baths he got this week)

Saturday, we wanted to take Mac to the state park down the road. They have a 4.8 hiking trail and we had every intention of walking the entire thing. About 5 minutes in we saw some congestion ahead and as we got closer we saw a stick like slither about 5 feet long was blocking the trail. Hasta la vista hiking trail. Cottonmouth or garden snake- this chick is not going near it. All of those other fools brave souls can cross its path and lose a leg.

Plan B: We detoured to the Alligator marsh boardwalk. With the beautiful weather and comfort of a raised boardwalk, we did some sightseeing through the telescope. From a distance, (the best kind of distance) we even saw a set of tiny eyes poking above the water. She was a little gal but it still never ceases to make your heart skip a beat.

Alligator marsh boardwalk

Sunday we squeezed in a little house hunting before the big game and found a pretty serious contender. It is a new neighborhood and they are only in phase 1 of building so we have some time to really "sleep on it". That aspect alone is so relieving- I think I can speak for both of us when I say the whole cut throat/have to act now part of real estate is agonizing..... and we were never in the thick of it. the thought alone though-ugh.

But like I said, for now we sit and dream, ponder and pray that it is the right decision for us- I'll make sure to keep you all posted :)
