Orange Ombre

I had been eying the ombre cakes that all over Pinterest so on Saturday when I had gotten the itch to bake I decided to give it whirl. I have to say not too bad for my first try.

I made it 4 layers so that I would get the full ombre effect... this beast took 6 cups of buttercream!

a perfect spring cake for a perfect spring day!

Let them eat cake

I thought I had picked out a grooms cake but Pinterest is making me wonder if I don't like one better. (I wasn't kidding when I said that I can't make up my mind)

There are so many avenues I can choose from.....

Do I go the Auburn route?

The Cardinals route?

Or do I go the New Orleans route?

Decisions, decisions, decisions....

So fresh and so clean

So... I didn't get the Xanax that I had requested but I did get that organization that I had been craving. Last night I tackled my large to do list and really hammered down on what my brother calls the "admin to his personal life". There is food in the pantry again, the house is spotless, the laundry is done, the mutt has returned to his "natural hair color" and the final plans are off to the builder....... Yes, it is in fact true. The Future Mr. and Mrs. are HOMEOWNERS!

We finally found "the one" and should have a completion date of August 15th. This fall is sure to be a busy one :)

New last name and new permanent address.... there is only one thing to do. Order a customized address label. Here are some of the ones I have had my eye on.

SO excited for all new things to come!

Full Plate

My plateth has run over. over flowing. chock full. What I really want to do is complain about my job. The stress is becoming unbearable but I am thankful to have a job. I want to complain about my house being a pigsty... and never seems to stay clean for longer than an hour...but I am thankful that I have a roof over my head. I want someone to come groom the mutt that is contributing to the pigsty state but, I am grateful for him. I want need a sense of organization, peace and if I could get some xanax.... I'd take that too.

Catch Up

Yikes, I am far behind! 2 weekends ago Dan's mom came in town and we had such a good visit! Saturday we headed to the mall to tidy up the registry.

*Ladies, beware of who your soon to be husband becomes behind that gun.... at one point we almost were potential owners to a cow shaped butter dish and a gold decorative stapler!*

Anywho- we finally went and scanned the china that we both decided we liked better than the china we originally registered for. (neither one us can make up our mind)

Waterford Padova 5 Piece Place setting

here is a zoomed picture of pattern around the edges- she is mighty pretty.

Sunday we played tourist and headed to river road and went to Oak Alley. I have been dying to go and i have to tell you- pictures do it NO justice. I have seen the beautiful line of oaks from the road but, to be standing on the veranda looking out gives you chills. The oaks have been there for over 300 years and its an amazing site.

We got a round of Mint Juleps, 2 parts bourbon to 1 part mint syrup.... aka I think we were all light headed after the first room on the tour.

the breathtaking view from the veranda on the second floor of the home.

The old kitchen now serves as a garage for 2 antique Ford cars.

Follow Oak Alley on Pinterest! The wedding/bridal shots there can make a girl jealous but maybe one day we can do a family portrait there :)

On a different note- I saw this years first magnolia yesterday. hello warm weather.

Happy Thursday!

Keep me in your heart

My heart is a little heavy this morning. When I left my family last night after my Easter visit, I had to say one tough goodbye. My brother-in-law took a transfer to Israel so my sister, niece and nephew will now be living a 17 hour plane ride away.

I left a little bit of my heart on my parent's porch where the cutest 20 month old waved "bye-bye" and where a little boy smiled a smile that would turn a terrible day into a great one and most of all I left a little bit of my heart with a friend, my sister.

Best of luck, Lundberg clan.

"I get by with a little help from my friends"

I think the best way to judge how close a group of friends is to give them a few cocktails and put them in a car with the radio blaring. Trust me when I tell you that all conversations will stop and you will be surrounded by 7 of the most terrible voices singing at the top of their lungs as if they were the next Mariah Carey.

Last weekend, I escaped the manic, slightly bi-polar person March had made me and headed to the Lake of the Ozarks with some of my best friends from college. Its been a LONG time since I have laughed that hard. My abs hurt so bad come Sunday!

We loaded up on sweets after sweets

washed it down with a little bubbly

gave our leading lady some goodies for the honeymoon.
(this was one of the best gag gifts I have seen at a lingerie shower. Erika, in true Erika fashion, had us rolling on the floor laughing!)

took a few too many of these

partied until sunset (and close to dawn)

and recovered with 1 or 2 about 3 of these

Thank you ladies for an unforgettable and much needed weekend with you all! As Leanne said after we left- my love tank is full again.

Much love
