MIA

Work has been demanding some serious amount of work for my paycheck as of late (the nerve right?) so a lot of things have been put on the back burner.

Weekends have been full of elbow grease as well. The beadboard I had been lusting for is installed and awaiting paint and the backyard has taken quite the transformation!

What I am trying to say here.... sorry I've been missing. I'll be back to my regular scheduled programming come February 1st..... in the mean time, one thing has been getting me through these long days....

Maternity Leave
THE BIG REVEAL

This time tomorrow we will know if it will be pink or blue, bishops or jon jons, tea parties or dump trucks. We can hardly wait!

My gut feeling is boy.... Dan's is girl (just because I think boy) and all of the wives tales tell us we will have one of each. (kidding!)

stay tuned :)

17 week bumpdate

How far along? 17 weeks
Size of Baby B? The size of turnip. During the two weeks, we were once an avocado as well. Weighing in at about 5 oz.
Maternity Clothes? I feel like my bump shrunk a bit (maybe its more just getting used to this rounder state of life) but still able to wear both maternity and non- maternity.
Weight Gain? 6 lbs. I was told to expect a large jump in the weight range around this time. The weather has been SO nasty here, the only thing I feel like doing is sitting on my couch so I am nervous for this expected "jump"... I may get hit double time.
Stretch Marks? none so far.
Gender? January 30th.... getting SO close!
Sleep? Going pretty good. I usually have 1 bathroom break throughout the night though.
Food Cravings? Nothing too serious. Still snacking on too many sweets. Trying to switch that out for fruit (and failing)
What I miss? Cant think of anything. Except life without a water bottle constantly within reach. I may swim to labor.
Symptoms? None.
Belly Button? In
Wedding ring on or off? On
Best moment of the week? Clearing out the room that will be the nursery and starting our first project. Pictures to come soon :)

Friday Pinspiration

Life seems to be settling down around here (just in time right?) after the wedding, honeymoon and holidays and my home wishlist is starting to become a bit more realistic.

First on the list is of course a  nursery BUT in a dream world, I would like to get all things "construction" done before babies arrival. Power tools and nails just don't seem baby proof.

Project Nursery: After our finding out our little one's gender, paint and wainscoting will be happening right after. I already have my eyes on the bedding so paint will be pretty easy.  I just love the look of beadboard in a nursery. Just too sweet.

I like these shelves in the hall bathroom. Pretty simple but helps add a little bit of personality to the space

I love this molding for the dining room. We have a very open floor plan so adding this to the dining room/entry way would really help differentiate the space.

I also love the look of this:

For my laundry room I wouldn't mind something like this (minus the pew and the kid). The shelf with the hooks I adore. Somewhere to drop coats and purses and a dog leash would come in handy

Last but certainly not least (dear god not least-its a big dream). I am dying and pining and wishing for these built ins. We have such a huge wall in between the dining room and living room. The living room has an equally large wall right next to it. On that wall I have already done the big prints stacked on top of one another so I can't exactly do that again. I would LOVE to put these built ins in.

"Thrifty Decor Chick" used 12 in deep cabinets for the bottom so it wouldn't take up much room but would just complete the space oh so much. I figured this would be a half DIY/half "don't work someone out of a job" kind of deal.

Happy Friday!... I'm off to convince my other half how much we need all of this. :)

It's Begginning To Look Like Mardi Gras

As of Sunday, it is officially carnival season! And that means one thing.....

King Cake!

Well and of course Beads, Beer, Mardi Gras Balls and Parades.

Sorry that's all I've got for today..... weighing heavily on my mind :)

baby b's story

We got back from Belize late Monday night and believe it or not, i had an appointment with a woman's favorite doctor on Tuesday. (completely unrelated baby apt) I was supposed to start the following week. Start day came. Start day went.... and truth be told I couldn't shake the feeling I could be pregnant. Mothers intuition or maybe the feeling that a tiger attacked my chest.... who knows which one?

I talked to my sister the following day and she encouraged me to take a test just to see. So I did. At lunch I went and got the plain ole 1 line you aren't, 2 lines you are. 3 minutes later, I got 1 line and a half-ish... I guess you could say. The line was so faint, being new at this, I chalked it up as a negative and got back to work. (Probably a good time to mention I work from home)

2 hours went by and  I started to wonder about that half-ish. Insert a digital test and close to 2 liters of water and I had a "Not Pregnant" reading, I was back to work. again.

I still couldn't shake that half-ish and truth be told I had turned to Google. Google told me that you can  actually dilute your results. SO... I began to wonder if I got a false positive. If Google tells you, it must be true.

That night I mentioned to Dan about my multiple drugstore trips and the results they brought. We decided it would be best to take yet ANOTHER one in the morning.

Rookie mistake... I got another one line you aren't 2 lines you are. The next morning brought one and "three-quarterish"

At that point, I started to really believe it. But dont be fooled, I went back and got ANOTHER test. A digital one that this time read Pregnant.

After what my husband calls a mortgage payment worth of pregnancy tests and 4 trips to 4 different drugstores ( yes 4 different ones, I kept thinking of Juno- the scene where Dwight is telling her that her eggo is preggo no matter how many times she peed on the stick. I didn't want to run into the same cashier twice) we started to dream of life as mommy and daddy.

15 week bumpdate

How far along? 15 weeks.
Size of Baby B? The size of a naval orange and weighing between 2 and 3 ounces.
Maternity Clothes? Some. In the mornings I can get away with some of my jeans. By mid afternoon, I need the Bella Band. By nighttime- I'm ready to toss both jeans and Bella Band and walk around naked. I seem to grow like a weed throughout the day and for that I broke down and bought a pair of maternity jeans. Tops, I can get away with both maternity and non maternity.
Weight Gain?  4 lbs. Needless to say I did not turn down a single Christmas cookie last week.
Stretch Marks? Nope but had to suspend use of the cream I was using due to a rash. Once that clears, I'll be back to greasing myself up like a turkey on Thanksgiving.
Gender? Dying to find out. We have an apt tomorrow so we should get a date set for the big reveal :)
Sleep? Has been much better. The first trimester was tricky. I was up at 1:30 and couldn't fall back asleep until 3:30. It was like clockwork.
Food Cravings? chocolate Who am I kidding? Ive had that craving for years. Nothing out of the ordinary. I'm more grossed out by things that I didn't used to be. Like popcorn (ugh the smell) and cooked sausage (everything about it)
What I miss? Lunch meat. I dream of Goodcent's 6in turkey on white with lettuce tomato, onion and heavy on the light mayo in my sleep.
Symptoms? Nothing really.
Belly Button? In
Best Moment of the Week? We got to go see a family friend for a freebie ultrasound.  He was so thorough and pointed everything to us, the chambers of the heart, the various parts of the brain, the spine, the tiny little legs and even the umbilical cord. Almost 45 minutes of watching it's every move and we were able to bring our moms. This tiny little baby is running marathons in there and doing somersaults in between. No wonder I had been tired!
